Your vacation destination is only 12 miles from the Bourne Bridge – and, only ¾ of a mile from one of the Cape’s finest beaches – Old Silver. You may want to try to “orient” yourself – so click on this Mapquest link – and it will take you to 12 Edgehill Road in Falmouth, MA 02540.
All set now? Here we go! Your beach hideaway is a lovely contemporary Cape, a little more than 12 years old. You’ll find yourself in a lovely, quiet neighborhood where you can get some great sleep. The kids, meanwhile, can safely play outdoors!
Let’s look around outside, first. You’ll appreciate the yard. It’s well maintained, kid-friendly, and nicely landscaped . And the huge, wrap-around deck is something special! Broil the steaks on grill while friends and family lounge on the chaises or snack on munchies and offer advice to the chef while they’re seated under the patio table umbrella. Meanwhile, maybe Junior or Sissy will want to wash the beach sand out of their hair. So send ‘em to the outdoor shower – it’s under the deck, and has both hot and cold running water. It also has a couple of built-in mini benches to lay the diapers on – OR to put down that great Margarita you whipped up a moment ago in the blender!
As you enter the house from the deck you will step into
the sun / screened room with cathedral ceiling and sky lights. It is outfitted with ever-so-comfy rattan furnishings, including a table and chairs (great for card games in the evening) as well as cable TV, rattan sofa and an oversized comfy chair and ottoman. Windows/screens on three sides! From here, you’ll step into the main house. First you’ll see the dining area with cathedral ceiling, which is right off of the fully applianced kitchen. FYI, the kitchen includes electric stove with full oven, refrigerator with freezer and ice maker, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, blender, utensils, tools, pots, pans (including one large enough to boil some lobsters!), dishware, and glassware. There are assorted “treasures” located in the drawers in the dining area china cabinet, including placemats, lobster tools, etc. Then, the living room area flows from dining area. And wonderful natural light illuminates the two sofas (one contains a queen bed). There’s also another cable TV as well as a massaging recliner. There’s an active telephone line in this room – although most folks prefer to bring their cell phones. We also just had wireless cable internet installed – it’s supposed to flow from the cable connection in the living room. (Remember, though, YOU’RE ON VACATION. DO YOU REALLY WANT TO DO EMAIL??? Or – would you rather go fishing???!!!)
The master bedroom is also on this floor. It has a wonderful “cottage style” queen bed. And this room is also outfitted with cable TV and a DVD player. One of the house’s two full baths is located near this bedroom – and this bath contains a tub and shower feature.
There are two wonderful bedrooms on the second floor.
One room isquite large – and this is a room that kids love! It has two twin beds (the early morning sun dances across the beds! ) as well as a trundle bed . (If you wonder what a “trundle bed” is, please follow this link! ) Please know that if you have younger kids, you’ll find them battling over who gets to sleep on top! The second bedroom up here is decorated in true “Cape Cod” style. This private room offers a cozy, comfy double bed and is nicely located right next to the second floor bath. While this second floor bath doesn’t have a tub, it does have a good sized shower (and a sky light).
Oh – one more thing! Full sized washer and dryer in the walk-out basement!
So, there it is! Nice, nice house. A house where it’s easy to make memories!
